This tradition of honor drives our relentless pursuit of excellence in water rescue and recovery. We prepare for every challenge, recognizing that swift, skilled intervention can mean the difference between life and loss.
Beyond response, we strive to educate and prevent. Through continuous training and public outreach, we aim to reduce water-related emergencies before they happen. When the call comes, we respond with the expertise, training, and equipment needed to fulfill our ultimate mission—saving lives.

Team History
In 2015, recognizing a critical need for a township dive team, the Whiting Fire Dive Team was restructured and revitalized. Over the years, our team grew, with members completing specialized training to expand our rescue capabilities.
By 2016, we broadened our mission with the formation of an ice and surface water rescue team, ensuring year-round readiness for water-related emergencies.
2024 marked a defining year for our Special Operations Team. With our ERDI Certification (Emergency Response Diving International), we established ourselves as a trusted resource for complex water operations throughout Ocean County and beyond. Our team now stands prepared for water rescues, recoveries, and underwater crime scene investigations.
Thanks to strategic financial planning and the unwavering generosity of our community, we expanded our capabilities in 2024 with cutting-edge equipment, including:
- Inflatable Boat 3316 – Designed for efficient water rescues and transport.
- Fully Encapsulated Drysuits – Providing enhanced safety in hazardous water conditions.
- Advanced Full-Face Masks – Enabling seamless diver communication for precision in every mission.
As we look ahead, we remain committed to growing our team, improving our capabilities, and fostering the next generation of rescue professionals through our Associate Dive Team Member Program.
